ALIEN INVASION
A Vegas Cabbie Tries to Save the World in Disney’s
Race to Witch Mountain.

For years, stories have circulated about a secret place in the middle of the Nevada desert, known for unexplained phenomena and strange sightings. It’s called Witch Mountain. When a Las Vegas cab driver, played by Dwayne Johnson, finds two teens with supernatural powers in his cab, he is suddenly thrust into the middle of an adventure he can’t explain.

When the trio discovers that the only chance to save the world lies in unraveling the secrets of Witch Mountain, the race begins, as the government, mobsters and even extraterrestrials try to stop them.

Disney’s Race to Witch Mountain, which was partially filmed at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, advances the story line of the original 1975 film, Escape to Witch Mountain. Both movies were based on a novel by Alexander Key, but the latest film is “a new chapter within the world of Witch Mountain,” according to Race to Witch Mountain director Andy Fickman.

In the film, Johnson stars as cab driver Jack Bruno. He meets two paranormal siblings, played by AnnaSophia Robb and Alexander Ludwig, with a villain on their tail—described as a “man in black” and played by actor Ciarán Hinds. Bruno teams up with a discredited astrophysicist (played by Carla Gugino), fired from her university and giving a lecture at a UFO conference in Las Vegas, to rescue the teens.

The cast spent several days in Las Vegas filming scenes on the casino floor at Planet Hollywood, on the Strip and in Miracle Mile Shops.
